This perennial herb is a kitchen essential! Its easy to grow and famously versatile. Leaves can be enjoyed fresh and are also suitable for freezing or drying for use out of season. This selection bears mauve-purple flowers in summer. Harvest May to September. Flowers July to August. Planting sow under cover February July, onto moist seed compost and cover seed sparingly with soil, as light is required for germination. Propagate at 18--20C. Transplant seedlings to pots once large enough to handle. Acclimatise and plant out once all danger of frost has passed. Mint is invasive restrict its spread by growing in a pot or container. Aftercare every two years, lift, divide and re-pot. Cut back hard after flowering. Eventual height & spread 30 100cms.
