This variety has bright green leaves with handsome red veins. Its best enjoyed as a baby leaf and grown as a cut and come again crop. Delicious to eat, it has significant ornamental value and is not out of place at the front of a border. Harvest May to September. Planting Best sown in situ March May. Before sowing, remove stones and weeds from soil and rake to a fine tilth. Sow 5mm deep in rows 45cm apart. Once the seedlings are established, thin them to 30cms spacing. Water generously during dry spells. Alternatively, grow under glass all year and use as a cut-and-come-again salad crop. Aftercare do not allow the plant to flower: it renders the leaves inedible. Cut back hard when harvesting, to promote fresh, tender growth. Eventual height & spread 30 30cms.
