These dwarf cornflowers grow in a lively mix of blues, pinks and purples, making them an excellent choice for the front of a border, or for planting in patio containers. Theyre very attractive to useful pollinators, especially bees, and make a delightful cut flower. Flowers June to September. Planting sow in situ March May, in finely raked soil, 3mm deep in drills that are 30cms apart. Thin the seedlings out to 15cms spacing. Alternatively, sow under glass August October, overwintering the seedlings for stronger plants and earlier flowers in the following year. Sow in pre-watered compost and cover sparingly with soil. When large enough to handle, transplant the seedlings into individual pots and grow on, eventually planting them out 15cms apart. Aftercare deadhead regularly to promote fresh flowering. Cornflowers thrive when planted close together and do not require fertilisers. Eventual height & spread 45 30cms.
